After awakening PDF Print E-mail

Martin:  I have two questions for you Umi. After awakening, one still does the same things (as in the example of the monk who carries water and chops wood before awakening, and does the same after.) My question is, why?

Umi: Do you have some esoteric ideal about Awakening?  After the Awakening the body goes on doing whatever it was always doing, except all the actions that were supporting the ego, the identity, 'me', all these drop away.  The actions that were supporting the ego are the ugly actions.  These all drop away.  There is no motivation to support anything.  There is no motivation to prove anything.  All is perfect as it is.  Whatever actions were happening before, still happen, but now everything has changed, because there is no one doing it. Before there was an 'I' doing it for the 'I', after, there is simply the actions for no purpose. This is happening.  There is a momentum that keeps moving until the body returns to the ground or the air.  After Osho's Awakening he stayed at the university and kept speaking, and then even when he left the university he kept speaking, and he kept speaking until there was no breath left in his body.  After Nisargadatta Maharaj's Awakening he kept selling tobacco in his tobacco shop.

Martin:  Since I can ask you, an awakened one, perhaps I can ask more directly:  Why do you eat?

Umi: This is the true miracle.  When the body is hungry, the body eats.  When the body is tired, the body sleeps.  This is what the body does.  It is so simple and so marvelous.  The real question for you is, look deep in and see where this question is coming from.  You will find it comes from some belief.  ALL beliefs are traps to keep you unconscious.

Martin:  My second question is more pragmatic: do you give non-virtual satsang also?

Umi: Yes.  Where do you live?

Love
Umi
