"Question: Are you against society?

Umi: No, I'm not against society. Society is the way it is. That is a fact. But also I'm not for society. I do not support its actions, its values, its beliefs. Society is a product of the collective unconsciousness of its people. It is a manifestation of each individual's need to support the illusion that each person is a separate entity, incomplete, isolated, and therefore needs to do 'something' in order to justify his/her existence. There is the underlying belief that in order to feel whole, you need to connect with another, with an individual or with a group. But even while you indulge in all this effort, this feeling of aloneness is always there, and this feeling increases the need to discover what it is that can be done to fill this hollow. The results of this search are the many forms in which society appears. How can I be against this? This is the natural result of a collection of people believing that they are separate individuals. This is the natural result of the suffering of believing that you are alone. I feel the pain of this illusion. I know this pain. I once lived in this illusion and suffered. And because I understand that this desperation is based on a lie, on the lie that you are separate from the Whole, therefore I am available to bring you back to the experience, not the belief, but the experience of your oneness, of your totality. I am available to help you remember Who You Really Are. This is the work of Satsang. It is through this work that this illusion of being separate from the Whole vanishes. There is a sudden realization of oneness and all suffering dissolves. All needs to find the 'right' lover, to create the special masterpiece, to create the perfect society, dissolve. With this realization that there is no I, that there is no separation, there comes a deep relaxation, a let go, an acceptance of all that is happening, a feeling so open, so connected, with such a deep knowing of your oneness, that all that is left is bliss, is love, is freedom.
